It has been decided that a new large refrigerated LPG carrier scheduled to enter service in 2019, which will be chartered on a time charter basis by GYXIS CORPORATION (Head office: Minato, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Takayuki DOI) from Kumiai Navigation (Pte) Ltd., will be equipped with SOx scrubbers. The ship will use this equipment to remove SOx (sulfur oxides) contained in its engine exhaust gases to comply with SOx emission regulations that will be tightened from 2020 under the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships. We will strive to reduce our environmental impact by complying with the regulations and, by enhancing our transportation capacity, we will further contribute to the stable supply of LPG.
